With just over 48 hours until the start of the 2021 Absa Cape Epic, Jaco Venter and Alex Mayer of Team First Move / Fundsmith will be adding a little more colour and panache at the opening Prologue come Sunday morning.
The jersey, designed by First Move Sport and manufactured by Ciovita, was inspired by ‘Playful Living’, a design trend characterised by a playful reaction to the ordinary.
“Now, more than ever, it’s essential to keep ourselves inspired and motivated and not to get discouraged by the hard times we have faced. This period is at the same time really uncertain but also filled with an amazing number of opportunities and new horizons.” ~ Kathy Crabbe, First Move Sport.
The jersey design expresses energetic humour; boasting an array of colourful creativity, symbolising a new optimistic attitude, and embracing a desire for life to simply be… more fun!
“We are extremely grateful for our sponsors’ continued support and for trusting us enough to colour outside the conventional ‘Pro Team’ lines with this jersey design. We love it and the feedback has been phenomenal. The requests have been rolling in, so we’re planning on making it available to the public.” ~ Kandice Venter, First Move Sport.
Venter and Mayer will debut their new jerseys at what is said to be the most technical Absa Cape Epic in history, but the team has their eyes set on another jersey, the Absa African Jersey.
The race for the Absa African jersey is set to be hotly contested in a battle that Team First Move / Fundsmith intend on winning. The race within the Absa Cape Epic that rewards the strongest African riders over the course of 8 days, 619 kilometres and 15 250 metres of vertical ascent.
